What’s Happening at Port Stanley Festival Theatre in 2017?

Port Stanley Festival Theatre

Leisa Way is a great singer and entertainer, so I’m looking forward to her show celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday.  Then the rest of the season sounds like lots of laughs with a selection of comedies, which always pleases the Port Stanley audiences.

Leisa Way starring in…
“Oh Canada, We Sing for Thee”
and featuring the Wayward Wind Band

The incomparable Leisa Way teams up with the Wayward Wind Band to pay tribute to Canada’s 150th Birthday!  A celebration of Canadian talent, with music from Stan Rogers to Anne Murray, from Gordon Lightfoot to BTO, and Michael Buble to the Guess Who, “Oh Canada, We Sing for Thee” brings a non-stop parade of hits to the Port Stanley Festival stage. Join us for the celebration!

“On A First Name Basis”
by Norm Foster
June 7th to July 1st
‘A love story, a social commentary, and a mystery wrapped in witty dialogue and vivid imagery.’  David Kilbride has 12 successful spy novels and three failed marriages to his credit. He also has a housekeeper who’s had 28 years of watching from the sidelines! What happens when employer and employee sit down and become acquainted on a first name basis?
A masterful new comedy by Canada’s favourite playwright.

“Buying the Moose”
by Michael G. Wilmot
July 5th to July 22nd
Rob and Betty, and Greg and Cheryl have been friends forever, but then something happens that changes everything. Or does it? Tube tops and inflatable dolls, car chases and ice cream, tattoos and true love…life just gets complicated sometimes. A delightful romantic comedy from the writer of ‘Love Shack’ and ‘7-10 Split’.

The World Premiere
“Five Alarm”
by Kristen Da Silva
July 26th to Aug 12th
Ava Rose has tried (and failed) to win the Wayne Rose Memorial Chili Cook Off for 16 years, but this year it’s going to be different! With an iron will, an assistant who knows nothing, and a five-time champion as her bitter rival, Ava Rose strives for triumph in this zany comedy as sweet as it is spicy. Who knew that chili could be this much fun!

“Midnight Madness”
by Dave Carley
August 16th to September 2nd
‘Midnight Madness’ … a blast from the past that captures the heart!
Bloom’s Furniture is closing its doors for the last time, but first?  Midnight Madness!  A chance meeting between old high school friends triggers romance amongst the water beds. Will Wesley and Anna make a go of it? Will Blooms really close forever?  Join us for our season closer and see just what happens when all sales are final!
