It’s a busy weekend for area high school students who want to be on stage in Disney’s High School Musical. Kids will be lining up for a chance to audition to be in the Pep Squad for High School Musical at Drayton Festival Theatre in Drayton and Huron Country Playhouse in Grand Bend. The auditions are being held Guelph February 20 and Exeter February 21. For details see http://www.draytonentertainment.com/aboutus/auditions/highschoolmusicalauditions/

Last year, High School Musical was a sell-out hit in St. Jacobs and Penetanguishene. This year, the show will be re-mounted April 21 to May 15 at Drayton Festival Theatre and May 19 to June 5 at Huron Country Playhouse.

David Cotton (currently touring as a knight with Camelot) will again be in the role of Troy, with Canadian Idol winner Melissa O’Neil back as Gabriella. Also, my son, Thomas Alderson (also on the Camelot tour as Mordred) is returning in the role of Alan, one of the school kids, with a total cast of 20 professional actors.

Drayton Entertainment gives 12 local students an opportunity to join in for 8 shows, for a total of 48 kids in Drayton and 36 kids in Grand Bend.

If last year’s runs are any indication, this show will sell out early. Order tickets now if you’re thinking about going – and if you know any teeny-bopper girls, you must bring them along!
