Congratulations to Matt Murray, originally from Sarnia, on the success of his comedy “The Myth of the Ostrich”. I was hoping to see it on a recent trip to Toronto, but unfortunately it is completely sold out!
From all reports, it is a wonderful comedy. Here’s how it’s billed:
“After Pam finds an inappropriate letter from her teenage son to his mystery girlfriend, she arrives unannounced at Holly’s house to discuss their children’s relationship. What starts as a pleasant visit, quickly takes a complicated, bizarre, and hilarious turn.”
Matt and his mother were co-writers of “Remember, Maggy” which won the 2011 Best of Fringe play in Toronto. In 2014, Matt was back at the Fringe with “The Myth of the Ostrich”, and now he has taken it to the Factory Studio. Director is Steven Gallagher and in the cast are Astrid Van Wieren, Alanis Peart, and Renée Hackett.
And congratulations to Mark Crawford, originally from Glencoe, on his work as a playwright. Last summer his play “Stag and Doe” premiered at the Blyth Festival, and later played at the Port Stanley Festival, where Mark himself had a role. See my blog on the Blyth production here:

Coming up this summer, his new play “Bed and Breakfast” will premiere at the Thousand Islands Playhouse in Gananoque. It’s billed as:
“When Brett inherits the family home, he and Drew move out of quick-paced Toronto to set up a B&B in a quiet little tourist town. But will these big city boys face friction in their new community? With dozens of hilarious characters all portrayed by two men, ‘Bed And Breakfast’ is a heartfelt comedy about ‘being out’ in small town Ontario, skeletons in the closet, and finding a place to call home.”
