www.whitemitten1234@yahoo.com....... i remember the award show jimmy was at, not long before he passed away in 1979. he was in a wheel chair on stage that night. he was waiting below the stage, waiting for the lstage elevator to raise him up to the stage at the end of the program, for a last appearance. it never came for him. he was found sitting in his chair crying, alone in the dark, and forgotten. the show had finished some time earlier. he was found by someone who worked at the theater, after everyone else had left. the person who found him thought they heard someone crying, and went to investigate. a single employee of the theater was specifically assigned to raise mr. cagney up to the stage on a musical cue from stage level. the employee left mr. cagney alone below the stage, turned out the lights, and left the theater. did j.ack warner have anything to do with such a terrible insult to someone, who gave so much to the american stage and film? one can only speculate today. jack was capable of ruining lives and careers, in his tenure at warner bros.. those who worked for and under jack, and their children can tell many stories of things that happened to people who worked for the studios, in the old studio era. my late mother and i among them.
